Questions About Ceramics

Are your ceramics dishwasher and microwave safe?

All Wolf Ceramics studio wares are made with durable stoneware clays. They are handmade and intended for every day use. Though they are dishwasher and microwave safe, handling with care will extend the life of your ceramics.

My favorite item is out of stock! When will it return?

We generally restock our web shop on Friday mornings, every 3-6 weeks. Certain items have been selling out quite quickly lately. If you would like to be the first to know when we restock the web shop please join our mailing list for occasional updates.

What's this line on my plate or bowl?

We glaze most of our plates and bowls by dipping them once on each side. This leaves an overlapping dip line in the center of the piece. This is an aesthetic element and mark of our process that we love and embrace. We try to make sure that this represented in the images on our web shop to that it isn’t a surprise!

Custom Orders

Do you make custom orders?

Its always fun to take on custom orders! When Wolf Ceramics was teeny tiny and it was just Sarah alone in the studio, custom work was her bread and butter. Now that we are a team of five, we need to keep things more simple by offering our Kansas City and Portland dinnerware options in three colors made to order. If you are interested in a large order with another one of our more elaborate glaze designs, please reach out to us at hello@wolfceramics.com and we’ll let you know if we can make it happen.

What is the lead time on made-to-order dinnerware?

We don’t hold ready-to-ship inventory of many of our dinnerware options, as there are just too many shapes and colors for our small team to keep in stock all at once. If you make an order through our custom dinner set builder, there should be a lead time listed on the product page. We work in batches and it can take one batch of work several weeks to make it from the initial stage all the way to glazed and ready-to-use. If we glaze your dish set but have a few pieces that come out with glaze issues, we need time to re-make those pieces before sending the set. We always plan for some amount of loss in our production process, and we try to reflect that honestly in our production lead times.

Do you make ceramics for restaurants or cafes?

Yes! We love working with restaurants and directly with chefs to design wares that compliment your food and your space. Collaborations with restaurants have inspired so many new ideas and designs over the years. Please contact us at hello@wolfceramics.com to inquire about ceramics and pricing for your restaurant. Click here to see some of the restaurants we’ve worked with.
